Code: ULMS589

Credits: 20

Semester: Semester 2

In facing today’s complex and turbulent global business environment, managers must master the art of working with diverse people and organisations around the world to effectively meet their obligations and achieve both long-term and short-term aspirations. This module provides students with an in-depth understanding of management practices in the rapidly changing global context of business. It covers topics such as the global business environment, cross-cultural management, global human resource management, and managing global teams. Exploring these topics enables students to critically understand the opportunities and challenges facing global managers and develop the knowledge and skills needed to manage effectively across national and cultural boundaries. Students will also gain insights into how the human resource function can help firms to build a cadre of managers capable of successfully managing their global operations, thereby securing a competitive edge. With these endeavours, the module seeks to equip students with competencies needed to manage effectively in global context and pave the way for a successful global career.
